Remembering My Aunt Cynthia Lobban
When there was no other
You were to me like a mother
Though I was unruly and wild
You never forgot I was your sister’s child
Love which I knew not before
You gave to me without keeping score
You comforted the loneliness you saw in me
With kindness so motherly and free
When my days were troubled and uncertain
You taught me to look beyond my mind’s dark curtain
To see the light of a new day
And the path leading to another way
I will always be mindful of you
How to me you were always noble and true
Fare you well sister of my mother
Like you, there will never be another
